Historically, during the Celtic feasts the cake was served and it was called bannock. In some cases the cake was displayed to all in attendance, and then won by the best dancer, who was then charged with cutting and distributing the cake. This old ritual is closely connected to today's wedding celebrations, the tradition of the wedding cake and it's ceremonial cutting and sharing. Handmade in Waterford, Ireland.

DancePrize,

As a fan of Celtic culture, I couldn't resist this Cashs Ireland Art Collection piece. Though it's just a plate, it has a rich history. At my gatherings, it doubles as a piece of art and a conversation starter.

WeddingBells,

I purchased this cake plate for our wedding. The link to ancient traditions made our ceremony even more special. The plate itself is beautifully made and became a family heirloom the moment we used it.

NeutralNancy,

The plate is nice and certainly unique. However, it didn't quite match the rest of my dinnerware. It's more of a statement piece than an everyday use item.

ComparisonKing,

Previously, I bought a generic cake plate, but this one from Cashs Ireland Art Collection is in another league. The price is slightly higher, but the quality and history it represents are well worth it.

BudgetBuyer,

At first, I thought $66 for a plate was too much, but after receiving it, I have no regrets. It's not just dinnerware, it's a piece of art that pays homage to ancient Ireland.

PracticalPaul,

The plate’s history is fascinating; however, I underestimated its size. It's slightly bigger than I expected and doesn't fit well in my cabinet. Make sure to check the dimensions before buying.
